Since 1970, the UGA Cortona Program, located in rolling hills of Tuscany, Italy, has been a leader in education abroad. It is UGA's oldest study abroad program calling the town of Cortona home for nearly 50 years. Today, UGA Cortona offers a variety of core courses including English, Psychology, Art History, Women's Studies, Photography, Science, and Business. This is in addition to an extensive list of beginning, intermediate and advanced-level Studio Art courses which makes up the bulk of our course offerings. No knowledge of the Italian Language is necessary; however, a number of our UGA Cortona Programs do offer ITAL courses. All students who participate in our programs will have the opportunity to earn UGA credit while enjoying beautiful Tuscany, along with excursions to other Italian cities.
There are many general study abroad scholarships available, including substantial need-based program-specific scholarships.

Wheaton College is committed to providing students with opportunities to broaden their understanding and vision beyond the borders of this campus and this country. We work in collaboration with carefully selected partner institutions around the world to support our students as they prepare to study abroad and while they are overseas. Students must apply to Wheaton's Center for Global Education as well as the institution through which they plan to study abroad. Admission Requirements:
Students must have completed an art history survey course as a prerequisite. Portfolio review is required for studio majors.
Courses & Credits:
Students enroll in five courses during their semester study abroad, which will earn 4.0 Wheaton credits. All courses are taught in English. Italian Language courses are available during the Fall Semester only.
Housing & Meals:
Students live in a dormitory in a renovated 15th century monastery, with modern bathrooms. Students are provided with daily continental breakfast at the dorm and weekday dinners at a local restaurant. Lunches and weekend meals are not included.
Budget Information:
Students studying abroad will continue to pay Wheaton tuition. Students are not charged Wheaton room and board, or the Wheaton technology, laundry, or student activities fees while on a study abroad program. Wheaton will, in turn, pay the program for all tuition and academic fees and international insurance. Students will pay living costs directly to UGA. Please note that this may or may not include a meal plan. Students will book and pay for their own flights.
Fees billed by Wheaton will be charged to students on their regular Wheaton College student account during regular billing cycles (July/December).
Federal, state, Wheaton need-based and merit scholarships will be applied to these charges for Wheaton-approved programs. Students must consult with the Office of Student Financial Services (SFS) for a comprehensive review of their aid. If a student receives aid beyond the cost of Wheaton tuition, they can request a refund through SFS. This can in turn be used to pay their program for room and board charges.
