IFSA - ARGENTINE UNIVERSITIES PROGRAM
Geotag  Buenos Aires, Argentina

WHY STUDY IN BUENOS AIRES?
Home to countless cultural and sporting attractions, Buenos Aires is one of the most cosmopolitan societies in the world with a distinctly European air. Known for its sophistication and culture, the city offers unparalleled opportunities to enjoy theatre, music, films, sports, and museums. Although Buenos Aires is expansive, the city’s reliable and inexpensive local transportation make getting around a breeze.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Buenos Aires offers the best of big-city living with fascinating social and economic dynamics. Mix and match classes between the largest, most prestigious university in Argentina and smaller universities offering intimate experiences to reach your personal and professional goals. Enjoy world-class theater, music, film, sports, and museums, or simply people-watch while sipping coffee at a sidewalk café.

ACADEMICS
With the Argentine Universities Program, build your own academic program with a combination of IFSA designed and Argentine university classes taken in Spanish alongside local degree-seeking students. You will select at least one IFSA-taught class and combine it with your choice of additional IFSA classes and direct-enroll classes to meet your academic needs and goals.

CULTURAL ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES & EXCURSIONS
Program activities are designed to enhance your intercultural competence by developing your understanding of the local culture and people. They are optional, but they are included in your total program fee. Activities vary each term based on availability, but previous events have included film screenings at the renowned Buenos Aires film festival and tickets to see a local football game.

IFSA Excursions are included in your total program fee and though these are optional, most students choose to participate. Excursions vary each term based on availability. Typically, students participate in a long weekend trip to Iguazu Falls, among the largest waterfalls in the world, located along the Argentine-Brazil border. Several day trips around the region have included visits to the National Congress building, local art museums, and city tours. Featured excursions specific to each IFSA core class are also included.

Further information about IFSA-Butler Argentine Universities Program specific to Wheaton College students

Wheaton College is committed to providing students with opportunities to broaden their understanding and vision beyond the borders of this campus and this country. We work in collaboration with carefully selected partner institutions around the world to support our students as they prepare to study abroad and while they are overseas. Students must apply to Wheaton's Center for Global Education as well as the institution through which they plan to study abroad. The most up-to-date information can be found on the program provider's website above.

**Due to Argentine visa deadlines and requirements, IFSA-Butler recommends that non-U.S. citizens apply early to this program.

Note Calendar Differences in Southern Hemisphere:
U.S. Fall = Semester 2: August - December                            U.S. Spring = Semester 1: March - July

Admission Requirements:
Five semesters of college Spanish to advanced, content level. 4 semesters of college Spanish for Intermediate Language Program.

Courses & Credits:
Five courses each semester, 15 to 16 semester hours will earn 4.0 Wheaton credits. All courses are taught in Spanish.

Housing & Meals:
Students live with families. The Argentine Universities Program includes two meals per day Sunday through Friday and one meal on Saturday.

Budget Worksheet:
Students studying abroad will continue to pay Wheaton tuition. Students are not charged Wheaton room and board, or the Wheaton technology, laundry, or student activities fees while on a study abroad program. Wheaton will, in turn, pay the program for all tuition and academic fees and international insurance. Students will pay housing and meals directly to IFSA. Students will book and pay for their own flights.

Fees billed by Wheaton will be charged to students on their regular Wheaton College student account during regular billing cycles (July/December).

Federal, state, Wheaton need-based and merit scholarships will be applied to these charges for Wheaton-approved programs. Students must consult with the Office of Student Financial Services (SFS) for a comprehensive review of their aid. If a student receives aid beyond the cost of Wheaton tuition, they can request a refund through SFS. This can in turn be used to pay IFSA for room and board charges.

Please do your research as housing and meal costs vary greatly from program to program. This Budget Worksheet can help you estimate the total costs of your program. Refer to your IFSA program website for an overview of all additional expenses, which may include visas, international cell phones, and discretionary expenses.
