Wheaton College is committed to providing students with opportunities to broaden their understanding and vision beyond the borders of this campus and this country. We work in collaboration with carefully selected partner institutions around the world to support our students as they prepare to study abroad and while they are overseas. Students must apply to Wheaton's Center for Global Education as well as the institution through which they plan to study abroad. Application Tips:
Early application is encouraged as BU reviews applications on a rolling admissions basis.

Program Dates:
Fall Semester: early September to mid-December                              Spring Semester: mid-January to late April

Courses & Credits:
During the first part of the program, students take two required core courses, while also starting the elective that runs the length of the 15-week program, while they prepare for their internships. During the internship phase they intern full-time, four days a week, while enrolled in a weekly elective course. In total they receive 16 semester hours or 4.0 Wheaton credits. 

Students in all the health sciences, from pre-med to public health are especially welcome in Dublin each fall when they offer a Health Science Track.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Students must obtain approval from a Wheaton academic department in order to receive academic credit for the internship seminar and experience. Students may not participate in the program without this approval and approval of all academic components and seminars.

Not all internship areas and related courses fall within liberal arts disciplines and will not be approved for academic credit by Wheaton College.

Housing & Meals:
Students are housed in dormitories at the Dublin City University (DCU). DCU does have limited dining hall facilities, but it is at the student’s own expense. There are ample grocery stores in the immediate area surrounding the campus. Students have access to many services provided by DCU including libraries and study spaces. Students are welcome to participate in all DCU social clubs, teams and organizations.


Budget Information:
Students studying abroad will continue to pay Wheaton tuition. Students are not charged Wheaton room and board, or the Wheaton technology, laundry, or student activities fees while on a study abroad program. Wheaton will, in turn, pay the program for all tuition and academic fees and international insurance. Students will pay costs directly to their study abroad program. Please note that this does not include a meal plan. Student's housing will include a full kitchen for meal preparation and storage. Students will book and pay for their own flights.

Fees billed by Wheaton will be charged to students on their regular Wheaton College student account during regular billing cycles (July/December). 

Federal, state, Wheaton need-based and merit scholarships will be applied to these charges for Wheaton-approved programs. Students must consult with the Office of Student Financial Services (SFS) for a comprehensive review of their aid. If a student receives aid beyond the cost of Wheaton tuition, they can request a refund through SFS. This can in turn be used to pay their study abroad program for housing expenses.

Refer to your BU program's website for an overview of all additional expenses, which may include visas, international cell phones, and discretionary expenses.
