About Mansfield College, Oxford University

Oxford University, with a student population of 14,500, is one of the oldest, most distinguished, and most competitive teaching and research institutions in the world.  The University comprises forty-five colleges and halls, some dating from the 13th century. Its unique educational system is based on the “tutorial,” similar to a directed reading, for with one to three students and an accompanying discussion group. Visiting students are registered as members of the university and the colleges to which they are admitted; they are granted membership in their Junior Common Room, and are allowed access to libraries, as well as to social and sports facilities.

Location: 
Mansfield College was originally founded to provide further education and theological training, and was affiliated with the Congregational Church. Currently, there are 50 academic staff, 220 undergraduates, 50 graduates and approximately 35 visiting students.

Program Dates:
Academic Year only, divided into three terms running from September to June. 

Admissions Requirements: 
Minimum GPA requirement of 3.7

Courses & Credit:
Students enroll in two tutorials per term: one primary tutorial and one secondary tutorial.  A full year of study will earn 9.0 Wheaton credits.
Housing & Board: 
Single rooms in dormitories. Students take their meals at the College.


Budget Information:
Students studying abroad will continue to pay Wheaton tuition. Students are not charged Wheaton room and board, or the Wheaton technology, laundry, or student activities fees while on a study abroad program. Wheaton will, in turn, pay the program for all tuition and academic fees and international insurance. Students will pay costs directly to their study abroad university. Please note that this may or may not include a meal plan. Students will book and pay for their own flights.

Fees billed by Wheaton will be charged to students on their regular Wheaton College student account during regular billing cycles (July/December). 

Federal, state, Wheaton need-based and merit scholarships will be applied to these charges for Wheaton-approved programs. Students must consult with the Office of Student Financial Services (SFS) for a comprehensive review of their aid. If a student receives aid beyond the cost of Wheaton tuition, they can request a refund through SFS. This can in turn be used to pay their study abroad university for room and board charges.
